Description
Cefpodoxime has anti-infective therapeutic action and belongs to the extended-spectrum class of antibiotics also called cephalosporins. This suspension works on the third generation of cephalosporins. These are most active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria causing bacterial infections. Cefpodoxime plays a significant role in inhibiting the growth and kills the bacteria by restricting the bacteria to form the cell wall which is the protective covering of the bacteria and is essential for its survival.
It is dry syrup consisting of 50 mg strength and comes in 15mg/30 ml packaging. The brand name for this suspension is Cepotec Dry Syrup. The mild action of cefpodoxime makes it suitable and effective for children and thus holds a good tolerance among children.

PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS-

- Avoid consuming it with or immediately after intake of protein pump inhibitors, H2 blockers, or antacids.
- Overdose can be harmful.
- It will not work for viral infections. Thus, avoid using them for cold, cough, and flu.
