Description

Ceftazidime injection is used to treat infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia and lung infections. It can also treat meningitis (an infection around the brain and spinal cord) and other infections of the brain and spinal cord. Additionally, it helps with infections in the stomach area, skin, blood, bones, joints, female reproductive system, and urinary system. Ceftazidime injection is a type of medicine known as a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by getting rid of bacteria.

Antibiotics like ceftazidime cannot treat colds, the flu, or any viral infections. Taking antibiotics when you don’t need them can make it more likely for you to get an infection later that can’t be treated with antibiotics.

How do you use this medicine?

  • Ceftazidime injection starts as a powder that is mixed with liquid. It can be given through a needle into a vein or into a muscle. Ceftazidime injection can also be found as a ready-to-use mixture that is given through a vein. It is usually given every 8 or 12 hours until 2 days after all the signs and symptoms of the infection are gone.
  • Make sure you understand these instructions, and ask your doctor if you have any questions.
  • You should start to feel better within the first few days after getting the ceftazidime injection. If your symptoms don’t get better or get worse, call your doctor.
  • Keep taking the ceftazidime injection until you finish the medicine you were given, even if you start to feel better. If you stop taking the ceftazidime injection too early or miss doses, your infection might not be fully gone, and the bacteria could become resistant to the medicine.

Health Benefits

Ceftazidime Injection IP contains Ceftazidime, which is a strong medicine that fights infections caused by germs that need oxygen to grow (aerobic) and those that do not need oxygen (anaerobic). It works on both types of bacteria that can be either gram-negative or gram-positive. It is used to treat various bacterial infections in the urinary system, lungs, brain, bones, joints, ears, throat, skin, and soft tissues. Ceftazidime Injection IP helps stop bacteria from making their protective wall, which they need to live. Also, Ceftazidime Injection IP can be used to treat fever from bacterial infections in patients with low white blood cell counts. It is also used to prevent bacterial infections in men during prostate surgery.
